Big River Climbing Guides, founded in 2017, is dedicated to providing the most inspiring, fun, and safe climbing experiences possible. We pride ourselves on professionalism, standard driven skills & techniques, and researched risk management policies. All guides have passed rigorous national climbing instructor courses and exams as well as holding multiple degrees in outdoor education & recreation. We are committed to excellence as well as having an amazing time in one of the midwest's most beautiful regions.

Eric Barnard -Owner/Guide

Eric has been guiding since 1997 in areas such as Joshua Tree, Kings Canyon, Arches, and Sequoia National Parks as well as regional locations such as Devils Lake State Park,  Horseshoe Canyon, and Red River Gorge. He is an Instructor Trainer for the Professional Climbing Instructors Association and a lead instructor for NOLS Wilderness Medicine.

Taylor Treinen- Guide

Taylor has been guiding for 4 years in such areas as Canyonlands, Devils Lake State Park, and in the Upper Mississippi River Valley. He is also been a paddling guide on the Upper Mississippi River. Taylor is extremely positive and has a true passion to share climbing with others.

Mike Henderson - Lead Guide

Mike has been guiding for the last 7 years in numerous ranges in the Western United States and has climbed and skied peaks across North America as well as Central America.
